Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a free-to-play iOS and Android spin-off of the Animal Crossing series. It was first released in Australia on Oct. 25, 2017, with a worldwide release following a month later, on Nov. 21. The game was developed by Nintendo EPD and NDcube and published by Nintendo. Its director is Kazuyoshi Sensui, while its producer is Hideko Konno.
The mobile game departs from a number of traditional gameplay mechanics of the Animal Crossing series. Instead of living in a town among a handful of animal neighbors (or being the mayor of one, like in New Leaf), players control and customize their own campsites and RVs. Gameplay takes users across various different campgrounds, including a beach, island and river, where they help animal campers with favors and requests—be it some fruit some eat or some ocean fish to grill.
Special events are a norm, where players can receive exclusive furniture, clothing and other rewards for completing specific goals. Pocket Camp also introduces microtransactions to the series in the form of Leaf Tickets, which players can use to buy limited edition items or speed up certain time-based processes.
