Animal Crossing: New Leaf surpasses ‘Wild World’ as best-selling title in series

2013’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS has become the best-selling game in the series, surpassing Animal Crossing: Wild World.

The news came out of a Nintendo investors’ meeting, during which sales figures for various Nintendo platforms were revealed.

During its lifetime, Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold 11.78 million units worldwide, beating out Animal Crossing: Wild World, which has sold 11.75 million.

Animal Crossing: Wild World was released in 2005 on the Nintendo DS, with Animal Crossing: New Leaf coming years later as its handheld follow-up.
